if you have a Facebook account, you can CLICK HERE to view and join the FBC HS page… we post pictures from Mexico, make announcements about Relay for Life, and all kinds of good stuff.  Sure, it is much of the same info you get here, but if you are already on Facebook, why not join?  Parents are certainly welcome, also.

There have been lots of requests for pictures… if you join the FBC HS Facebook page, you will find links to 13 different Mexico albums!  That’s a lot of pictures from various people… very fun stuff.

to my knowledge…. everyone is home  :)   we’ll keep you up to date on pictures, videos, and all of that good stuff.

The home-stretch brings us our FIRST BIG GLITCH…

One of the buses broke down on the way to pick up the team at the airport.  So we have one bus loaded with freshmen, students who have school tomorrow, and leaders who have to work and they are all on their way, hopefully arriving at more like 1am now.  The rest of the group is at PDX waiting for a replacement bus which should hopefully be to them by 1am at the latest, putting them back to eugene as late/early as 3am!

another update from Rudy, via Jay:

The group had a great time in San Diego…  even attending a rock church (boo-ya)!

The team is getting on a plane and flying to Portland right about now (between 6pm and 7pm).  So far everything is on time and the team should arrive in PDX around 10pm, driving home and hopefully arriving at FBC at midnight.  Praise God for safety and fun.  Also, you may want to bring a jacket for your Mexico Missionaries, thay have been in 60-90 degree wether… and we’ve had snow, rain, hail, and clouds.

An update from Rudy, via Jay:

Well, the team made it across the border at around 3pm, just in time to miss an earthquake in Oaxaca!  They did not even feel the quake, although it was apparently a sizeable one.  No word on damages.  Pray for the townsfolk if you think about it.

The Mexico Team is planning on being home Sunday night at midnight (technically, Monday morning, if you’re keeping track) after driving home from Portland around 10pm.  Pray for safe travel and that the things learned in Mexico make it back with the students and staff.

The team is currently in San Diego.

We will hopefully have another update and some more pictures this evening, if Jared can find internet access.  Also, the hotline is now functional, so you can call and get updates as they travel.

Hola amigos,

Sorry we didn’t get a post to you yesterday.  Thursday has  crept up on us and it’s hard to believe we only have one more full day in Mexico. Even as our time is drawing to a close we look forward to what the Lord has in store for us. Even in just this short week he has accomplished so much through us.

On Tuesday night a fantastic youth night/talent show was held at the Victoria Church. The sanctuary was packed out with us and our Mexican brothers and sisters. The night started with a fantastic play about how Satan can distract us from the perfect love of God. Julie, Rebecca Jensen, Jacob Jacobson, Heather Brisk, and Ben Hawkins all did a great job memorizing their lines and providing fun and meaningful entertainment. The night continued with phenomenal music by students in our youth group and in the youth group from Mexico. After the play and music, the night ended with games finally awesome worship.

Wednesday was another workday in which students continued and almost finished their work on various roofing projects in different towns. Painting also continued as well as daily preparation for VBS and
various cleaning jobs. Wednesday night saw another basketball game against the local team, the Pistones. Despite a valiant effort, our boys were overcome by size, age, bent rims, and slippery floors. At
half time the play was performed a second time and Rudy gave a short gospel message that was translated by Pablo.

Today we look forward to fellowship with our Mexican brothers and sisters, the completion of our work projects, and seeing what else God has in store for us.

Please pray for continued energy and health as the days get longer and everyone gets more tired. Pray that we would let God be our strength and comfort as our bodies fatigue. Pray for continuing wisdom for the leaders and students. Pray that we would keep our eyes open to God’s work and opportunities He gives us to share His love. Pray also for the seeds that were planted at the basketball games and the youth night; that God would work in the hearts of those who heard His message, and that they would recognize the hole in their heart that can only be filled with God?s love.

Gracias para su apoyo y sus oraciones,

The Mexico Mission Team

Hola amigos y hermanos,

Tuesday morning is here and the time is beginning to fly by. Yesterday was another day in which we saw God’s plan unfold before our eyes. The early part of the day saw the repair of worn old roofs, the painting of pastor Isaac’s house, and medical care in the clinic. This morning in our devotions we discussed how the battle belongs to the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:15-17). Dr. Jim and his assistants are preparing for another day of providing great medical care to those who need it. They have already provided care to several of the church members. Yesterday?s VBS was a great success. Many children came to listen to the gospel, sing and play games with us. We made belts of truth (Ephesians 6:14) and threw Frisbees with the kids. Then after dinner the whole team drove to Delta where we played a game of basketball with the locals and shared the gospel at half time. After some songs in Spanish and a short message, four boys received Christ as their Lord and Savior. Praise the Lord! The game ended with an Oregon victory (66-47) and everyone made it home safe and sound and had a good night sleep.

Tonight we look forward to a talent show/youth night where we will fellowship with our brothers and sisters through games, songs, and a theatrical performance. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for us for the rest of the evening.

Please continue to pray for VBS that the kids would have open minds and hearts and that we might plant seeds that would grow. Pray for the medical clinic that the Jim and the nurses would have strength and courage and that their work for the Lord would be not only physical but also spiritual. Please also pray for the patience, strength and encouragement of the leaders and the students who are beginning to experience the fatigue of warm weather and long days of service.

Thanks for all your prayers and support and we look forward to seeing
how God will use us in the coming days.

God Bless,

The Mexico Mission Team

Buenos dias from Mexico

It’s Monday morning and we are all enjoying the lovely, dry eighty-degree climate. Most of us are working on painting, fixing roofs, preparing for VBS or assisting in the medical clinic. We started off the day on a full tank of delicious Mexican breakfast. The hospitality down here puts all of us to shame. Then we held our morning meeting in our area churches where we went through a devotional together. We learned and discussed the ways the enemy tries to distract us and take our eyes off the goal. We know that we need to die to our flesh and serve others before we serve ourselves. We all need to remember that we are loved by god with an everlasting love that comes to us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

As we look back over the past 54 hours we are thankful for many things. We boarded our planes without any problems. We landed a little over two hours later in sunny San Diego. Though it took two hours receive our rental vans, it was an improvement over last years three hours. We all loaded up and made our way to hometown buffet in Calexico where we had our last taste of American food. With our stomachs full and bags worth of Wal-Mart goodies we made our way to the border where we crossed with no difficulty at about 7:30. We were especially thankful that the trailer full of all our luggage crossed without any problems.

We arrived at our towns and spent a nice evening getting to know our home stay families. After a good night sleep we woke up to spend Easter in Mexico. It was a very nice day of rest and fellowship and
our first taste of Mexican food. At 5:30 which was really 6:40 the Easter service started and we packed out the sanctuary of the Victoria church with over 400 people. We celebrated the sacrifice of Jesus with our brothers and sisters, sang songs, and pastor Brett gave an Easter message. At the end of the service pastor Isaac shared the schedule for the week.
Thanks for all your prayers. Please continue to pray for strength, health and energy. Pray that leaders would have wisdom and patience and that the students would have patience and eagerness to serve,
love, and grow in their faith as well. Thanks for your support and your prayers. We couldn’t do it without you.

God bless, The Mexico Mission Team
