Monday Morning Update
Thailand Team 2009 February 24th, 2009 by ElizabethHi Everyone,
It’s been an amazing, and busy weekend. We just finished Esther Camp 3. I must say, the days seemed to extend forever. For the first time, it felt like there were more than 24 hours in a day.
The Camp was a BLAST!!! We had some teaching times, worship times, and lots of time to just play and be silly. The teachings of Mary, Martha and Lazarus were well received. At the end of the Camp, several girls shared a particular part of the lesson that was significant to them. It’s amazing how much the lessons touched their heart.
Many of the girls worry about school, their families who are unbelievers, and what the future holds for them. They were reminded and encouraged to give their concerns to God and to seek His will for their lives. They memorized the verse Psalm 46:10, Be still and know that I am God.
Jim Buie taught about the Glory of God. One girl shared that she her father, a non believer, had an illness that left his legs paralyzed. For a year, he was unable to work and it was a hardship to the family. She prayed to God to cure him, but nothing happened. After a year, his paralysis was gone and he was able to work. Afterwards, he accepted Christ. What an amazing testimony to this sweet girl, who praised the glory of God!
And talk about fun stuff! We had the whole camp doing a line dance. And Dave Mertz was right in the middle of the girls showing how to boogie to a little country western music!
Many girls were encouraged by the sword drills that Gayle taught. They know their bible very well and liked the idea of protecting themselves with the armour of God.
Last night, the girls performed a beautiful drama called The Man in the Circle. It showed a man trying to find his way in the world through wild living, drinking, science and continually rejecting the Son. After all else failed, he finally accepted Life through the Son and went on to share it with others. It was a special sight to see. These girls have such a heart for the Lord that they want everyone to know Him
It’s time to say our last goodbye to the girls so I hope to have more in a day or so. There is so much more to share with you.
Please continue to prayer for us;
for continued strength and health
for safe travel
to continue to seek God’s will.
For the Thailand Team,
God Bless you,
Elizabeth
